Even sadder, there will be children, too. There is little we can do about it THIS Christmas, BUT\u2026 we CAN do something we can do NOW, so there will be some shelter NEXT year.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, December 17th The Dyess We Care Team will help Hope Haven revitalize 11 mini-apartments that will provide temporary shelter (while Hope Haven arranges resources, treatment and job placement) for homeless families.<\/p>\n<p>Not \u201cChristmasy\u201d enough for you?? How about this?<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there is a small room designated as the children\u2019s \u201cPlay Room\u201d. A group of students recently painted it; one of the Hope Haven staff said, \u201cAfter I saw it, I went home and cried.\u201d She was NOT shedding tears of joy! It is dreary and depressing. It\u2019s bad enough to be homeless child; at least ONE room should be fun and happy.<\/p>\n<p>Our #1 priority is to get the apartments ready for NEXT year; HOWEVER, IF we get enough volunteers\u2026 Hope Haven has given The Dyess We Care Team COMPLETE CREATIVE FREEDOM to do what we want with the children\u2019s playroom!!<\/p>\n<p>Even better\u2026 THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED!! There are THREE volunteer positions for \u201cArtist\u201d. The Children\u2019s room is going to be a Train &#038; Zoo animal theme, so we need artist to paint landscape, trees, clouds an animals. IF that\u2019s you, SNAG the \u201cArtist\u201d volunteer slots, AND e-mail me at: thedyesswecareteam@yahoo.com.<\/p>\n<p>UNLESS we get at LEAST 30 volunteers\u2026 the Children\u2019s Playroom will NOT happen.<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE consider volunteering for our LAST project of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>OH\u2026 and because this project is SO grand\u2026 EVERY volunteer will receive a NEW Dyess We Care Team 2017 volunteer t-shirt, just in time for Christmas!<\/p>\n<p>The Team Leader for this event is A1C Reese Winters, assisted by A1C Joseph Burk, with Lead Carpenter TSgt Bryan Carrillo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe Christmas doesn\u2019t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.\u201d \u2013 The Grinch.
