The Dyess We Care Team braved the 100 degree heat this past Saturday to hold a car wash at Red Robin.\u00a0 Although the turnout for volunteers was smaller than in the past, the young Airmen did manage to raise more than $1000.\u00a0 The money will go to Project Graduation which is scheduled this month on May 28.<\/p>\n

Last year marked the 25th year for Project Graduation in Abilene \u2014 which allows high school graduates to party safely all night.\u00a0 Project Graduation is a community-sponsored, volunteer-run, all-night party for graduating seniors from Abilene and Cooper high schools \u2014 the night of graduation, which is Saturday.\u00a0 The We Care Team has been supporting this event for several years.<\/p>\n

Many other civic organizations support Project Graduation, as well.<\/p>\n

The Lion\u2019s Club (members) come and help serve food all night long \u2014 and some of them are old enough to be these kids\u2019 grandparents.\u00a0 Other civic organizations support financially.<\/p>\n

The Abilene Restaurant Association has been behind Project Graduation since the beginning and still feeds hungry graduates all night long: With choices such as burritos, cotton candy and ice cream, no one will need to go hungry.<\/p>\n

Project Graduation is held at the Civic Center, located in downtown Abilene.\u00a0 Watch for more information if you are interested in volunteering to assist with this year’s Project Graduation.<\/p>\n
