The Dyess We Care Team began a major house paining project on North 7th street on May 2nd. The scheduled project start date had to be delayed due to some much needed rain in the forecast. We never complain about the rain here in west Texas. Project preparation began the week before with a through power washing of the house. The first day of the project was limited to scraping and removing loose paint chips due to more raifall the night before as it is not a good idea to tray and apply paint to a moist wood surface. Be sure and stay tuned to see the dramatic paint makover reveal.
This project holds a speical place in the hearts of the We Care Team volunteers as it is in support of a Marine Corps verteran whom lost a leg and is physically unable to complete even basic maintenance of his home. As the Dyess We Care Team rolls up its sleeves for this heartfelt project, the spirit of community shines brighter than ever, exemplifying the true meaning of support and camaraderie. With each brush stroke, our dedicated volunteers not only transform the physical appearance of this veteran’s home but also uplift his spirit, reminding him that he is never alone in his journey. The meticulous preparation and care taken in every step reflect our commitment to honoring his sacrifices while revitalizing a space that truly deserves to be cherished. Stay tuned for the grand reveal, where a simple coat of paint will tell a story of resilience, gratitude, and the power of coming together for a noble cause.
