SUMMARY:VFW Make Over - Phase III
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 21\, 2026 @ 9:00am\n1049 Veterans Dr\, Abilene TX\nDyess We Care Team VFW Renovation Project \nFor generations\, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has stood as more than just a building—it is a sanctuary. A place where stories are shared\, burdens are set down\, and no veteran stands alone. The VFW represents sacrifice\, service\, and the unbreakable bond between those who have worn the uniform and the nation they defended. \nNow\, it’s our turn to serve them.\nThe Dyess We Care Team is proud to take on a multi-weekend renovation of our local VFW—an investment not just in a facility\, but in the men and women who rely on it. This space supports combat veterans\, active-duty service members\, and military families. It hosts meetings\, remembrance ceremonies\, peer support\, and moments of healing that will continue long after the paint dries and the tools are packed away.\nThis project is about legacy.\nIt’s about ensuring that when a veteran walks through those doors—today or twenty years from now—they feel honored\, welcomed\, and remembered.\nWe will be working over several weekends with two shifts each day:\nMorning Shift: 0900\nAfternoon Shift: 1300\nIf you want to put in a full day of service\, we encourage you to sign up for both shifts. For those working both\, lunch will be provided—our way of taking care of the team that’s taking care of our veterans. \nCLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER

SUMMARY:North 7th House Paint Project
DESCRIPTION:Saturday May 2\, 2026\nHouse Painting Project\n1634 North 7th St\n9:00 AM to 4:00 PM\nThe Dyess We Care Team will kick off its first home transformation project of 2026 on Saturday\, April 11th\, with a powerful mission: serving a disabled Marine veteran and amputee in the Abilene community. \nBeginning at 9:00 AM and a second shift at noon\, more than 40 students from Dyess Airmen Leadership School will join forces with core Dyess We Care Team volunteers and community partner Honey Do Services\, Inc. to completely repaint the veteran’s home located at 1634 North 7th Street. This is more than restoring a house\, but a sense of pride and dignity for a veteran.\nOverseeing this ambitious effort is Team Leader SSgt Chris Bryant\, who will be guiding the project from start to finish and mentoring the next generation of Air Force leaders throughout the day. \nThe homeowner\, Mr. Padilla\, has entrusted the entire design to the team. In a meaningful departure from our usual colorful pallet\, our volunteers are embracing a bold black-and-white color scheme that we chose to reflect strength and a timeless\, masculine character fitting of a Marine. \nCLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER
