The Dyess We Care Team recently held it’s anual awards banquet on the evening of July 31 at the McM Elegante Suites. MSgt (Ret) Gordon Storey, founder of the We Care Team provided the opening remarks of the evening. The MC for the evening was Judge Downing Bolls. This particular awards ceremony was a little unique this year in that last years ceremony, which would have been the 20th anniversary of the WCT, had to be canceled due to the COVID pandemic. So this years award ceremony celebrated and recognized the top volunteers from both 2020 and 2020.

Closing comments for the evening were provided from both Abilene Mayor, Anthony Williams and Colonel (Ret) David Benson, 7th Bomb Wind Commander.
Both Williams and Benson shared with those in attendance the imporance of the Dyess We Care Team and the impact it has had on Abilne and the Big Country for the past 20 years. They also emphasized the importance the act of volunteering plays in a young Airman’s life and the fullfilment one gains with volunteering your time to halp those that are in need. The Dyess We Care Team exempliefies the core valure of service before self.
